What To Expect At My Bridal Trial
The bridal trial is a very important appointment, and every bride should know what to expect during their trial. At Simply Well Beauty, I call the trial a "Bridal Preview Session". Wording is very important for me, and I call it this because we're not really "trying" or trialing things. I literally want to give you a preview of what you will look like on the wedding day. So, what should you expect to happen at your Bridal Preview Session? Read on to find out more!

We'll Connect
I really like to build a relationship with my brides. Here's the thing, we are going to be working together in kind of an intimate capacity. First off, we'll be working together for the biggest, most important day of your entire life. Literally. You're getting married. That's a huge deal. You're also trusting me to make you look and feel your absolute best for this monumental day in your life that you've been planning for quite some time. I'll be in your personal space, touching you, and we will be starting your last day as a single woman and first day as a married woman together. Girl, we've GOT TO CONNECT! I want to get to know you. So we're going to start off by chatting for a few minutes and getting comfortable with each other.
We'll Discuss Inspiration
Once we've gotten to know each other a little better, I like to dive right in and talk more about your wedding day beauty inspiration. I'll already have some information from you that will give me a better idea of the direction we'll be going for your trial, but I like to discuss these details in person. I might ask some questions about the inspiration photos that you've provided me. I like to hear things from you so that I can gain as much clarity as possible before we actually start the service.
We'll Preview Your Look
After we talk about your inspiration, we'll go ahead and start your preview! This is the fun part. You get to sit back, relax and get pampered for a while. If you're only doing hair or makeup, your service will last for about 1.5 hours. If you're doing both hair and makeup with me (which is what I recommend!), then your service will last for about 3 hours. I usually start by prepping the hair in pin curls to get it out of the way and prepared to style. Then, I move on to the makeup application. After makeup is done, I'll style your hair. During both the hair and makeup services, I'll likely ask you for your input on a few things that I'm doing so that I can tailor the look to your liking. Once both hair and makeup are complete, and you love the look, I'll add in any hair accessory or veil that you'll be wearing on the wedding day if you have it available, that way you can see the full look.
We'll Document Your Look
I'm a stickler for details and documentation! Once we've completed your Bridal Preview Session, we'll take some photos - both on my cell phone (and yours, too, if you like) and on my professional DSLR camera. I'm not a professional photographer, but your photographer will be shooting your wedding on a DSLR, so this will give you a better idea of what you'll look like in professional photography. I'll also document your makeup look on a face chart so that I can remember exactly what product was place where on your face. This way, the details of your entire look is documented so that we can recreate this same look on the wedding day. Also, in the very rare occasion that something happens to me on your wedding day, everything has been documented so that if I had to have a replacement artist take over, they know exactly what to do (but that's NEVER happened, so I wouldn't worry much about that!).
We'll Touch Base About Details
So once we've completed the preview session and documented all of the details of your look, we'll take the last few minutes of your appointment to touch base on a few details of the day. I like to confirm that I have correct information, that way I can finalize your wedding day timeline, and so that we are both on the same page. We'll touch base about timing and location details, services that will be provided on the wedding day, and payment for your final balance.
That's it! Bridal Preview Sessions are really easy and fun. If you're a bride-to-be and you'd like to schedule a Bridal Preview Session with me, you can do that by clicking here.
Here's a Bridal Preview Session Checklist that I created to help you prepare for your appointment with me.
I also wrote a blog that you should read to help you have a successful trial. With the tips from both of these blogs, you should leave your Bridal Preview Session feeling really confident and excited for the wedding day. Be sure to share this blog with any bride to be that you might know who needs these tips! Also, if you're already married, let me know how your bridal trial experience was!
